Budget consultation set to begin
Liverpool City Council is set to begin a public consultation on its budget for 2022/23. The Council has forecast a budget gap for next year of £34.1m. The Council has identified a set of budget saving proposals which will contribute towards closing this budget gap - these proposals can be viewed via this link. These are proposals only at this stage. No decision has been taken yet. Equality impact assessments have been produced for each proposal and are available to view here. Following the consultation, the budget will be finalised and considered by Cabinet and Select Committee before being submitted to a Full Council budget meeting on 2 March 2022.
The public consultation on the draft budget proposals will run from 6 November to 21 January 2022.
The proposals presented have been drawn up in advance of the Spending Review, Autumn Budget and the Local Government Finance Settlement for 2022/23, which is usually published in late December. This has been necessary to ensure there is enough time to consult effectively on the proposals. As a result, it will be necessary to bring further updates as the funding for local government becomes more certain, so the position may change in due course.
Please share your comments or questions with us in relation to the budget proposals which will be captured and reported to elected Members as part of the budget consultation process. Your views can make a difference.
